A study in photography

Im not much of a dancer.
But I was at "Dansens Dag" yesterday here in Hammefest for a case I was doing, and I gotta say it was quite fun to see the dancers express themself through motion.

Also quite fun taking pictures of it! Here's a selected few.

Battlefield Heroes (Beta)

Ahhh this is one of the most fun shooter games Ive tried in ages!

Not only is it made in a cute cartoonish style that is just so increadibly charming, but fun and seem well made.

In addition to the regular pew-pew there's also some vrooom vrooom and some boom booom and some swoosh, i.e different vehicles that you can use to outmanouver and kill your enimies.

While its currently in the Beta-stages, you can get a beta key from a few different sites handing them out like candy. Here's one: http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/battlefield-heroes/signup.aspx

Its the first free-to-play game EA's given out. Of course you can buy "battlefunds" with creditcards though. Until this stage I have yet to see anything useful you can buy for battlefunds that you dont earn up by doing missions anyway,... except XP boost. But so be it, I bet more will come.

Im looking forward to see more content, more equipment, more maps. But all in all this looks very promising!

Warning: That theme song gets stuck!

If you want to look me up after joining, my nick is "SkamSoldier", Im with the National Army and Im currently around lvl 8.  Enjoy!

The crisis got me too!

So, Im out of a job 2 weeks from now on.

Im thinking of moving! Instead of seing this as a loss, Im going to explore new horizons!

Wish me luck!

Oh Oh Oh!!

Dan Brown is releasing another book this September, after years without publishing anything. I guess the standard he set with The Da Vinci Code success have made some extreme pressure, and I dont think it'd be human not to feel a little anxious when again releasing something new.

Angels and Demons was one of my favorites, together with Deception Point. Angels and Demons also involved Robert Langdon, the Harvard Professor in Symbology.

While its not yet known what the new book, which is called "The Lost Symbol", will be about, it is confirmed that Robert Langdon will yet again be the star of it. So its safe to assume that symbols of ancient mythical meaning will again play a huge role.
As another hint, the work title of the book project used to be called "The Solomon Key".

I wonder if this will be as controversial as the Da Vinci Code, and if it will create another uproar in the christian community and the vatican.

Im looking forward to it!

Awaiting CryEngine 2

Waiting for CryEngine 2 in Entropia atm, and its said to arrive during Summer. I really like some of the previews that has been shown to the community. This is my favorite:

New Fallout game due in 2010

During a press conference today in London, Bethesda confirmed the making of a new Fallout game. It will have the name Fallout New Vegas, and developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

The people at Obsidian Entertainment that will work with this project is allegedly some of the folks that was working at Black Isle during the making of the first Fallout-games.

Nothing else have been revealed yet about the new game, other then it will be a RPG in the same style as Fallout 3, however it will NOT follow the storyline where Fallout 3 ended, it will be another story in the same universe.

Will be interesting to see what Obsidian makes of it. If they manage to get anywhere close to Fallout 3 Ill be a very happy girl.

Pink Saturday

Participated in Pink Saturday in Entropia again, for the first time in probably a year?

It was nice to play Pink Sat again. Its a bit calmer mood over it then the stressing Champions League. I didnt get any globals, but in the end I was up there on the leaderboard switching between #2-4. In the last minute I fell down to #4, which of course sucks, because there's no prize for fourth.

But either way, the afterparty brought goodies as I won one of the fashion awards! Yay :)
Which reminds me, Pink is hosting a fashion event on CND in May. I might have to make an effort.

Pink Saturday at CND on Saturdays from 19:00-20:00. Live Commentary!
20 Ped Entrance, Most Loot.
Afterparty at the (2nd) Disco after the event, where everyone can join.

My Spore

Just tried out Spore. Im a little late, I know, but you cant do everything at once!

So anyway. Just started out yesterday. Pretty interesting game, one of those things you can just sit around and mindlessly do without stressing, cursing irl or the likes, which I tend to do in other games (or so I keep hearing.)

In the footsteps of Big Brother

Yesterday internet piracy recieved a blow to the head when the guys behind The Pirate Bay was found guilty in the swedish courtroom.

Now it seems Norway is following the trend that Sweden has created with more strict rules when it comes to piracy.
Yesterday the Mail- and Telecommition managed to get through a plea that says that the ISP's are required to give up information about their customers ID, if a court has determined that there is strong suspicion for piracy. That means that such information can be given to a third party via the court of law.  Police have already been able to access such information, but this opens up for civil lawsuits without the involvement of police authority. Just imagine Blizzard going after individuals.

This happened during a spescific case, but there is no reason to believe this isnt one step in a larger plan. Even the Director of the commition says:

— I think its about time we make the internet a legal place, whereas we avoid anarchy, sharks and petty thiefs. (Willy Jensen, Director of the Mail and Telecommition in Norway)

Luckily this doesnt mean the stasi-supervision that our brothers to the east is experiencing, or that the ISP's will rat you out. It means that the norwegian court may get a warrant to break the confidentiality that the ISP's are legally bound to.

At the same time, the political party "Høyre" is promising to give pirates a hard time if they win the election.
To be honest Im uncertain why on earth they'd go out with such a statement? I would think that there is a whole lot more people who download then who are afraid of being downloaded, and those who dont use internet much probably wont care about such anyway. So its not exactly a great strategy to win.

On the topic of piracy, the creators of Demigod released numbers showing that only 18 000 people connected with a bought licence, while a whooping 100 000 connected with pirated copies, causing the connectivity issues that was such a large problem during the first day.
Thats what you get for shipping it out without any sort of protection.

Awaiting Migration

The Pirate Bay trials is over in Sweden (first round anyway, suppose this will go to supreme court) and, Im sure you know, the makers of the site was fined with no less then 30 million SEK, and have to serve 1 year in prison.

It seems like the swedish courtroom had already decided they would make this trial an example.
An example against piracy, I suppose they thought.
An example against freedom of speech is, however, how many sees it.

One of the speculations is this: the attorney for the suing part commented, shortly after the sentece was revealed, that she thought it was a well reasoned sentence. A bit too shortly after, people say, she must have read it before the sentence actually fell.

Now Im just awaiting the outcries and the migration of terrified swedes moving to Norway.
At least if the sentence holds ground in the supreme court also.

So, dear big brother, Ill let you know that here in Norway you dont need to use services such as Mullvad to feel safe from the Anti Piracy Bureau when you talk about what you did during band camp. You dont need to be afraid that the APB will come and raid your computer and pass you a heavy fine in return because you downloaded a couple of songs from a band you would never had discovered through the shops.

So come over, neighbours! We'll keep you safe ...for now.

#¤%& Demigodly Christ!!

Talk about the king of premature releases!

Okay so like Ive already mentioned before, Im playing Demigod atm. And it was disappointing in most aspects yet entertaining.

Yea entertaining. Its entertaining to be able to rise in ranks, gain favour points and see the fruits of your labour showing off. So far I havent lost one single match. Ive played a few matches. But for some reason the idiotic game has managed to only register 4 games on me, none in Pantheon (the ongoing tournament), only 144 Favour points when I should have well over 500+,  it has reset all my achivements and listen to this:
It managed to register two lost games on me. That I HADN'T lost!

That victory screenshot I posted earlier, do you think it registered it? NO! IT REGISTERED AS A LOSS!

Oooooh it makes my blood BOIL! MAD MAD MAD SKAM!

Disappointed...

..."Helse-Norge", my ass.

Champions League!

Im an avid fan of Champions League in Entropia. After being absent from it the last two seasons I came back this season (Season 1, 2009) after having missed the two first rounds.

You can follow my progress here: www.entropialeague.com
And every sunday at 19:00 UTC you can follow Champions League live via JamHotTV!

A bundle of Bugsy Win!

I see I have forgotten to mention that my dear (ex)disciple, socmate and baby Bugsy won the Kevin Rudolph Video Competition that was held in Entropia!

You can see his entry here
A well deserved win. The animations are great, it reflects alot of the entropia life, and it will be very nice at the booths at games conventions. He worked really hard for it, and Im very proud!!
The prize was a LandArea and full supremacy.. What its worth now, Im not sure. But at least 30-40 000 $!

Just Sayin'....

Onlive

I know this isnt a extremely new topic but thought Id throw it in here anyway.

Onlive Press Conference

Onlive is a service which will run the games server-side, allowing you to access them immideatly and without having to think about the specs you have on your computer.

If this will work as promised I think it will be quite a exiting turn of events in the gaming industry. I very much doubt nintendo would back down but I could definatly see onlive killing off xbox and playstation if they reaped the success they are aiming for, unless either of the two find something to add to their systems to make them more unique (such as the Wii system from Nintendo.)

Im not sure how well this will work. According to the press conference they assume that people within 1000 mile radius from the server will recieve ~1ms latency max. It sounds a bit too good to be true, but crossing my fingers -if it works, that would be a whole new level of awesome.

On the other hand, I doubt this will work well with MMO's, specially not RCE's. So my system will still need upgrading.

Their beta-testing is starting this summer, US only. Good luck Onlive!

My lil brute...

Ever so slightly hooked on MyBrute. My brute is named "Skamdoodle", has a puppy, loves pwnies and occationally makes little boys cry.

Gotta love her.

Demigod

Im currently playing Demigod.

Mostly clichè characters (some cool and orignal though), no campaign, not much variety and a not entirely original concept (DoTA in a new form, really.) yet its mildly entertaining.

But cant help but feel a little disappointed by it. I was expecting more.
I know there will be more heroes to choose from in future patches, and probably other content aswell. But the game just feels like a demo, almost.

Graphics are nice though. My comp cant handle the lag all that well though, specially when there is a serious amount of soldiers on the map.
I really need a new comp... stat.
